Since attending Kings College, Peter has had a significant career history in both corporate and in the business mentoring and coaching sectors. He has over fifteen years experience in franchising and is a Founding Director and Chairman of Franchise Brands Holdings Limited, which owns the prestigious international franchise system 'Death by Chocolate'.
In 1996 Peter established Montgomery Consultants Limited to provide start up and ongoing advice to small and medium enterprises and through this Peter became significantly involved with franchise businesses. Montgomery Consultants have provided 'hands on' advice to over fifty businesses and covered every aspect of business activity from start up through operations to mediation of disputes.
In 2008 Peter formed Franchise Solutions Limited to continue the focus on franchising. Franchise Solutions Limited is an affiliate member of the Franchise Association and Peter is a former Board member of the same Association.
Peter is personally a member of the following professional organisations:

- Institute of Chartered Accountants
- Chartered Institute of Secretaries
- Chartered Institute of Corporate Managers
- New Zealand Institute of Management where he won the inaugural NZIM Business Scholarship in 1995
Previously, in the corporate environment, Peter has held senior management positions covering General, Commercial, Financial Management and Company Secretarial roles in organisations such as The Loaded Hog Group, Limited (2002 to 2004) Pengellys Limited (1993 to 2002) and Oroton (NZ) Limited (1988 to 1992).
These corporate roles represent the acquisition and application of significant knowledge within the hospitality, retail, service and distribution industries. Peter has implemented and led very successful projects in the areas of corporate restructuring, supplier negotiations, cost reductions, marketing, communications, information technology, human resources and ISO quality programs.
Peter has an adult family and remains very active in the community
